If you like Danny Kaye, you'll like this movie. Even if you haven't heard of him or are impartial to him, you still might like it. It's about a king who has taken over the kingdom and the attempts to put the true king on the throne. The royal heir is known only by the royal birthmark, the Purple Pimpernel. Danny Kaye plays a revolutionary who pretends to be "The Incomprable Giacomo, King of Jesters, and Jester of Kings." Unfortunately, he mistakes his enemy for his ally, is spellbound by a witch, wins the heart of the princess, falls in love with his Captain, and finally manages to be made a knight only so Sir Griswold can lop off his head. In addition, he sings songs, recites tongue twisters, and speaks witty words. It's just plain silly!
