This is the original series, "Star Trek." This is by far my favorite television series. The acting may be just dreadful, but the characters and plots are fabulous. Being Sci-Fi, it can deal with difficult issues without sounding cheesy or heavy-handed. The crew itself has incredible significance. There's the confident, loud, tough Captain Kirk, the logical, calm, serious, steadfast Spock, the hyper, short-tempered, moral Bones, the proud, ignorant Chekov, the the obediant, dutiful Sulu, the clever, artistic Uhura, and the cautious yet can-do Scotty. Even more interesting, there is a black woman on the bridge, as well as a Russian, Scottsman, and Chinese. At the time, this was very startling, but the actors work together so well you forget about it completely. However, you just have to see it to appreciate all the really cool things about it. There are even moral lessons and theology lessons hidden away.
Some cool episodes:
The Space Seed
Trouble with Tribbles
Arena
Catspaw
The Naked Time
The Corbomite Maneuver
The Changeling
Journey to Babel
Obsession
The Omega Glory
Bread and Circuses
Day of the Dove
